“I have always been amazed at the way an ordinary observer lends so much more credence and attaches so much more importance to waking events than to those occurring in dreams.”
--------André Breton
"Alternate Human" is designed to explore speculative life forms that exist within an alternate world consciousness, beyond synthetic/organic conditions with photographing on human bodies. One of the possibilities for the alternate world could be the digital world exists in our computers and servers, in the form of data and through the screens to display. In this photo series, using specific light setting to highlight the characters’ non-human characteristics, I captured a new human image to combine with the image I created by Photoshop. The final installation setting up with big scale prints is to immerse the audiences into the photo scenes. The audience is summoned into the universe I created where newly evolved, gender-free fragments of human body, hallucination and the sentient sense of the time. The broken human images are rich with suggestions of possibilities for disintegrating or forming.
For the entire project, and I’ve try to further explore my interpretations on personal aesthetics and philosophy in the surrealism context.
